May 08, 2014 · There are 2 prominent reasons for operating reformer at high pressure (28 - 30 barg) 1. At higher operating pressure you can process reasonable amount gas with in a reasonable size of reactor. But if you want to operate at lower pressure, to process same amount of gas the reactor size will be enormous. 2.
High Pressure In The Reforming Reactor reforming chemistry Britannica Catalytic reforming uses a catalyst, usually platinum, to produce a similar result. Mixed with hydrogen, naphtha is heated and passed over pellets of catalyst in a series of reactors, under high pressure, producing high-octane gasoline. More details
Jun 01, 2006 · High pressure is found to have oppos- ing effects in the steam reforming of methane; it de- creases the equilibrium conversion but it increases the permeation rate. The trade off between the transport and equilibrium quantities in a membrane reactor has been previously documented for the dry-reforming of methane [10].
The reforming reaction was carried out in a continuous flow quartz-fixed-bed reactor (i.d., 6 mm) under atmospheric pressure, at 973 K, and with a ratio of CH 4 /CO 2 1.05. 150 mg catalyst was loaded into the reactor and weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) was controlled at 12.5 h- 1.

There are three types of reactors predominantly in use in the reforming process. These are spherical, downflow and radial. As catalyst improved over the years, the reactor pressure could be reduced to take advantage of the increased C5+ and hydrogen yields at lower operating pressure. At lower pressure, the pressure drop through the
